About Verona Street Animal Society

The Verona Street Animal Society (VSAS) is a volunteer-based organization committed to raising awareness and providing the necessary financial and volunteer resources to enable Rochester Animal Services (RAS) to more effectively serve the community. VSAS supports the public’s interests in animal care and control, pet sterilization, and pet adoption. In collaboration with the City of Rochester, VSAS furthers the mission of RAS, ensuring that they can continue their vital work in the community.

Rochester Animal Services (RAS) is a municipal animal care and control agency dedicated to improving the quality of life and safety for city residents and their animals. They promote responsible pet ownership and work to reduce animal overpopulation, aiming to alleviate animal suffering and decrease euthanasia rates. RAS operates an animal shelter that serves as both an adoption center and a site for locating lost pets, striving to provide the best possible care for every animal under their care. Through their dedicated efforts, RAS enhances the lives of countless animals and fosters a compassionate community.

Since its inception, the Verona Street Animal Society has played a crucial role in organizing the local Roc Top Pet, which began in 2021. This annual event, sponsored by Three Heads Brewing, aims to celebrate the charm and uniqueness of pets while raising essential funds for VSAS. Participants compete for the title of Roc Top Pet, with the winner’s photo featured on a special run of beer by Three Heads Brewing, along with receiving treats and other prizes. The money raised through voting directly supports the efforts of VSAS, contributing significantly to the welfare of animals in Rochester.

So far, Laszlo has raise over $3000 for VSAS. He looks forward to raising even more money for this cause as he fights to become Roc Top Pet!
